7^th Meath Dunshaughlin Beaver Scouts

Group Camp July 2^nd-3^rd 2011

Your Beaver will need the following items for their camp to Dunsany

Kit List

Necker (no uniform needed but cannot go on camp without Necker)
Sleeping Bag
Bed Roll
Hot water bottle if your child usually gets cold at night
Plastic Plate, Bowl, Cup, Knife, Fork, Spoon
Torch with new batteries
2 spare sets of clothes
Spare sets of underwear
old pair of runners that can get wet in water fight
Warm jumper
Campfire blanket if you have one
towel
tea towel
Raingear (waterproof coat + trousers)
Suncream
Water Gun
Refillable plastic bottle with secure cap for drinking water
Spare plastic bags for wet+ dirty clothes

Please make sure all items are clearly labeled, including underwear, sleeping bags etc.

Scouts Hike-Crone Wood

We started our hike from Crone carpark with the help of Damien for direction. We followed the red arrow route and then the Wicklow way when we rounded a bend, the trees fell back and a hidden valley opened. Lord Powerscourt had the forest path cut out by hand during the 19^th century, so that his guests could enjoy the beautiful view of the waterfall as we did today. We turned up the spine of Maulin Mountain the summit in our sights at the crest of a long,rubbly trail of sparkling quartzite pebbles. At the top of Maulin we had quick snack as it was cold and a mist was coming over our direction. We descended down the NW side which was steep and still frozen over we had a light shower of hail stones and then over the stone wall and into the forest. Following the trail back down to the carpark.
